Margo trained as a dancer before moving into film and television. Her passion for movement and her working-class roots, inform the stories she makes. In 2016 Margo was commissioned by Channel 4 Random Acts to direct and choreograph NAME, a short dance film now available on the Channel 4 website. She then went on to create Searching for Cowardice as part of the BBC New Creatives programme and broadcast as part of BBC4’s Female Filmmakers screening. Searching for Cowardice is now being adapted as a TV series with funding from BFI Young Audience Content Fund and was selected for the Torino Series Lab 2021.
Margo’s BFI Network Midlands Short film POP starring Stephen Graham, has screened at BAFTA & BFIA qualifying festivals Bolton, Underwire, British Shorts Berlin and Iris Prize 2021, where it was nominated and placed in the top 3 for the Best British category. Her latest short film Monitor was a collaboration with writer & poet Ben Norris and funded by BFI Network SE & BBC Films, screened at Aesthetica, Manchester, Outshine Mimi, Beeston and British Shorts Berlin. Winning 2 Best Lead Actress awards and Best Screenplay.
Margo is currently in early development with her debut feature film EAT. She is stepping into TV having worked with Dionne Edwards as Shadow Director and Splinter Unit Director on Steven Knight’s: A Thousand Blows [Series 2, Block 2 - Disney, The Story Collective, Matriarch Productions] and Shadow Director to Philip Barantini on Adolescence [Netflix].
Margo is a multidisciplinary choreographer with an MA in Screendance from London Contemporary Dance School. Her work spans a wide range of mediums, including documentary, animation, fiction, fashion, and commercial projects.
With nearly a decade of experience as an Assistant Director, Margo has contributed to a variety of high-profile productions—most recently working alongside Tom Cruise on the Super Bowl LIX x Mission: Impossible opening ceremony.
